Students complete all coursework during an assigned time frame using their computer. There are generally no set class meeting times.

This instructional method allows for maximum flexibility in online-based learning, as courses do not have set times when instructors and students are required to be "virtually present".*

Students log in at their convenience to complete weekly coursework and participate in discussions with their peers and instructor. This freedom allows participants to fit education more easily into their schedule.

* Instructors in some courses will occasionally schedule times for students to "virtually present" for discussions.
