Daytona Beach, FL, Jan. 23, 2009 – USAF Staff Sgt Richard McCall was recently selected as a recipient of the 2008 NAIMES Student Spotlight Award. This $1,200 prize is awarded by the National Association of Institutions for Military Education Services (NAIMES) to active duty service members whose collegiate work demonstrates scholarly excellence while engaged in the Voluntary Education program of the Armed Forces.

This year’s applicants submitted essays addressing the theme, “Higher education and the global environment.” McCall’s winning essay provided an individual perspective on the importance of global communication and the impact and implications of being a U.S. Citizen on foreign soil.

Staff Sergeant Richard McCall is stationed at Hill Air Force Base, Utah where he is a Unit Deployment Manager responsible for monitoring cargo and personnel readiness in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He attends Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide located on the Air Base Force Base and is studying for a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management degree with a minor in Logistics.
