Wildlife Hazard Management Workshops
Airport Wildlife Hazard Management workshops are offered as part of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - Worldwide’s Professional Education programs. The workshops are offered at a variety of locations around the country throughout the year.
This workshop is acceptable to the FAA Administrator for compliance with the airport wildlife hazard training requirements of Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 139 and FAA Advisory Circular 150/5200-36. It is currently the only such training which meets the above training requirements. This training is required for biologists who wish to write airport wildlife assessments or for persons who wish to conduct airport wildlife recurrent training sessions. It is also an excellent training program for those working on airports in wildlife mitigation. Our students have come from all over the U.S. as well as Africa, Europe and South America.

Airport Wildlife Hazard Training Refresher
Format
Instructor Archie Dickey giving a lecture at the 2010 Seattle workshop.
The workshops are three days in length. The first two days consist of classroom sessions led by four of the nation’s premier airport wildlife management experts. Classroom time is dedicated to FAA required subjects including wildlife assessment techniques, mitigation plan writing, habitat modification, wildlife mitigation using passive and active techniques. Classroom time is divided between lecture and seminar-type sessions which allow for interaction between students and instructors. Day three features a field trip onto the host airport where classroom theory can be directly observed, wildlife assessment information gathered and mitigation techniques observed in action.
Potential students should read FAA Advisory Circular 150/5200-36, which details course contents, prior to arriving at class.
