What happens after I submit my application?

Within 48 hours of application submission, you will receive your student ID number. Your student ID number is required when communicating with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Worldwide Online staff. You will also receive an email from your new student academic advisor providing contact information and identifying documents required in order to complete your admissions process.

You will be asked to provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities, military learning experiences, credit by examination, and FAA licenses and certifications. Previous credit is evaluated on a course-by-course basis as part of the admissions process. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide Online makes every effort to ensure students receive maximum credit for prior learning experiences. For planning purposes, students should anticipate the admissions process taking in excess of 45 days.

With Worldwide Online will I ever need to physically attend class?

No, you can complete your undergraduate or graduate degree entirely online.

What makes a transcript official?

A transcript is considered to be official only when the issuing institution mails the transcript directly to the new school.

Do military credits transfer?

Credit is considered for military courses if they are listed on official SMARTS, CCAF, or AARTS transcripts. Credit is awarded based on the American Council of Education (ACE) recommendation and the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University transfer credit policy.

Can DANTES or CLEP credits be used?

Embry-Riddle will accept the minimum scores recommended by the American Council of Education (ACE) for exams offered by CLEP, DANTES, and Excelsior College for the award of undergraduate credit if deemed applicable to your degree program.

My previous college closed. How can I get a transcript?

Contact the department of education for your school's state. That office will have information about the location of old school records. If the records are no longer available, ask the state record keeper to send us a letter explaining the situation.

Will Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide Online accept transfer credit?

Yes, undergraduate transfer credit may be granted if the course work is completed with a C or better and is degree applicable. Graduate transfer credit up to 12 credit hours maximum may be granted if the course work is completed with a B or better and is degree applicable. Credits earned at institutions listed as degree granting institutions in the Accredited Institutions of Post secondary Education (AIPE) as published by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) will be considered for transfer credit. Embry-Riddle has sole discretion in determining which and how many transfer credit hours will be accepted toward degree requirements.

How much transfer credit will Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide Online accept?

Only credit from an accredited degree granting institution will be considered. Students may receive credit from military experience, and CLEP or DANTES exams if degree applicable. An associate's degree requires a minimum of 15 credits hours be completed through Embry-Riddle. A bachelor's degree requires a minimum of 30 credit hours be completed through Embry-Riddle. At the graduate level a maximum of 12 credit hours of graduate level credit may be applied if it is degree applicable.

If I earn an associate's degree, will any of the credit apply towards a bachelor's?

If you plan to complete both an associate's degree and a bachelor's degree with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, your academic advisor can assist you with choosing courses that will apply to both degrees.

Can I change my degree program?

Students may apply to change their degree program if they meet academic qualifications. When a student elects to change program or minor, the requirements of the catalog in effect at the time the request was initiated apply.

Is there an orientation for those new to online learning?

Yes, ORNT 001 provides students with navigational tips using Blackboard (Bb), how to use the library and exposes students to other students and resources.

How long can I go without taking a class before I would have to reapply?

Matriculation occurs when a student has been officially accepted for admissions and has enrolled in an Embry-Riddle course. The enrollment must occur either concurrent with the submission of the formal application for admission and fees, or within one year of the date of acceptance. If a student reapplies for admission after a break in status, previous courses taken with the University will not matriculate the student.

Can I access your catalog online?

Yes, a current version of our catalog, along with catalog supplements, is available online.

Is Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide Online accredited?

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and must abide by the terms of accreditation in order to retain our accreditation.

Is there a time limit on completing my degree?

Undergraduate Degrees: The associates, bachelors, and undergraduate certificates of completion do not currently have a time limit.

Graduate Degrees: Embry-Riddle graduate degrees must be completed within seven years.

How do I get help with accessing Blackboard?

How do I register for the online courses?

Students are assigned an advisor who works with them throughout their program. Students can register for courses by contacting their advisor.

** Students are encouraged to register early as class size is limited.

How many exams do most courses require?

Most courses require at least one or two exams. Some courses may require projects, writing assignments, research papers, etc.

Will I have access to a library?

Absolutely, the Hunt Library is the primary information, reference, and resource provider for all of Embry-Riddle Worldwide students, staff and faculty. The Hunt Library provides 24/7 online access to the online catalog, Voyager and to its many databases and web resources. For research questions, a librarian will help develop successful search strategies using a combination of locally held resources and our web-based online catalog and electronic resources.

How are exams administered?

All online learning undergraduate course examinations are available online via blackboard.

Do I have to login to my classes at a certain time each day?

No, however there is an expectation for students to participate on a regular basis. Students participate at the time of day that is most convenient for them. The interaction is conducted via a discussion forum, in essence, a form of E-mail.

Can I pursue two degrees of the same level at the same time?

To earn a second bachelor's degree, students must complete a minimum of 30 credit hours of coursework over and above that required for the declared primary degree. At least 60 credits hours must be completed in residence at the University and at least 20 of the 30 additional credit hours must be 300-400 level courses.

To earn a second associate's degree, students must complete at least 15 credit hours of coursework over and above that required for the declared primary degree. At least 30 credit hours must be completed in residence.

What if I don't meet the admissions criteria?

Applicants to degree programs that do not meet established admissions criteria may have their package submitted to Enrollment Management for review by the Academic Standards and Admissions Committee (ASAC). Applicants must provide all applicable documentation required for admissions, submit a letter of petition outlining what caused the prior deficiency, and what measures will be taken to ensure future academic success.

ASAC meets the third Wednesday of each month and application packages must be received by the first Wednesday. A decision by ASAC is final. Applicants admitted under probation will be given an Approved Student Success Plan to follow as terms of their probation.

What are the prerequisites for the MBAA?

Applicants for admission to the MBAA program are required to meet prerequisite knowledge in the following areas: Management, Quantitative Methods, Accounting Methods, Marketing, Finance, Economics.

Students should assume responsibility to see that prerequisites are satisfied. However, students who still lack prerequisite knowledge in one of the following areas may be required to register for one or all of the modules contained in MGMT 503 (A through F): Management, Quantitative Methods, Marketing, Accounting, Economics, and/or Finance. The prerequisite subject knowledge for a specific graduate course must be satisfied before enrollment in that specific course is permitted. Students may enroll in other graduate-level courses as they meet the specific prerequisite knowledge required.

The prerequisite knowledge can be validated through one of the following:

  1. Completion of an undergraduate or graduate course in each of the specific subject areas and validation of the course from an official transcript; OR
  2. Completion of a course listed in either the National or ACE Guide for which academic credit in one of the specific subject areas is recommended; OR
  3. Receipt of the minimum recommended score on a CLEP, DANTES, PEP, etc. Exam in each of the subject areas as required; OR
  4. Receipt of the recommended score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), see www.mba.com; OR
  5. Challenge Exams previously attempted and passed with a grade of "P" through ERAU Worldwide's Professional Experience Assessment for Credit (PEAC) program administered through the Office of Enrollment Management; OR
  6. Completion of the six one-semester hour business foundation courses (MGMT 503 A through F) with a grade of "P" in each of the subject areas as required.
