What Students Say
Currently I'm an Aerospace Physiologist technician assigned to the 79th Medical Wing at Andrews AFB, MD. I have plans to enter medical school by fall of 2010, become a military flight doctor, then civilian Aero-medical Examiner once my military career comes to an end.
Many may wonder why I chose Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University instead of one of the many colleges available on Andrews. The initial attraction was that the Embry-Riddle staff was a group of exceptionally knowledgeable professionals that were actively involved in the Andrews community. They did research on the medical career path and mapped out how they could help me reach my goal. Another reason was ERAU offered a degree in Professional Aeronautics which I believe will inevitably make me a better physician for flyers. I honestly believe that you must understand the professional side of aviation in order to better service those that are a part of this special profession.
This degree, along with the Safety minor, has also given me valuable tools and knowledge necessary in my current job. The very principles taught in my core course are ones that I apply everyday in my technical duties, operating the altitude chamber, and instructing altitude threats, crew resource management, situational awareness and crash and escape to many of the Presidential and Vice-Presidential aircrew. In addition, several of the non-core courses like Leadership have increased my ability to be a more proficient manager and effective leader.
Most importantly, as an active duty member of the Air Force, wife and mother of two, it's a challenge to maintain balance between those elements and pursue higher education. Embry-Riddle Worldwide Andrews Campus' academic advisors, instructors and staff provide the opportunity to accomplish my goals by offering convenient evening classes, online courses, and rock solid support!
